There’s no entry fee. Just turn up, collect a number and run.

Registration is at the Dave Stephen’s Building adjoining the Links car park, South Beach, NE24 3PL. This year there will be a voluntary charity collection.

Club Championships on Friday (August 12th)!!!

startingline2Right everyone it’s the Club Championships on Friday (August 12th), a highlight of the year, so let’s have a turn out to be proud of!

There’s still all to play for in the Grand Prix prizes stakes. It’s a great, fast course – 1 mile for juniors, 3 miles (1 lap) for the ladies and 6 miles (2 laps) for the men.

Meet at the car park of the Centurion Golf Park in Wallsend. More details here. And don’t forget to wear your green and gold vest!

Speedy Olly wins the 4th Summer Grand Prix.

Despite a strong finish from Adam Hamilton and Robbie Livermore, Olly Aird took home the gold medal with a fantastic run around the 2 mile course, with a PB of 11:05. He also finished 3rd with the fastest time of the night behind a stunning run from Jack Armstrong in 10:43 and the fastest time this year Simon Lyon 10:24. Emily James takes the fastest female crown with a 13:38.

Joseph Hoben hangs on to the top of table, with Andy Wigmore 2nd and Simon Lyon 3rd. There is still 165 points available to score for the year, so its still all to play for.

Many thanks once again to Jackie Garnett and Michael Day for officiating.

Next race is the Morpeth 10km on Tuesday 2nd August. With the Summer Championships 3/6 mile race on Friday 12th August at Wallsend golf course.

Thanks Gary Lewis

Summer Fun (finally!)

Another eventful week on the hectic summer race calendar.

sunderland4Congratulations to all the men who ran the Sunderland 5k (Harry Coates, Simon Lyon, Matt Darbyshire, Joseph Hoben, Jack Armstrong, Dave Hall, Alan Heslington and Tony Maddocks). Our first man was the ever awesome Harry Coates (please don’t go!) who completed the fast course in 16.08.

It’s a shame there were no women there to fly the green and gold flag. In my defence I made it as far as the car park before realising I had missed the start of the women’s race (I’m still suffering from severe baby brain, ok I know it’s 18 months on but…)

Full results here.

We did have another cracking turnout at the LGBT 5K though. Always a highlight (particularly the goody bags!) 21 Wallsend Harriers graced the Town Moor for the fab 5k. Congratulations to all, particularly our first man Jack Armstrong (17.59) and first female Sarah Robson (20.19).

Full results here.

Don’t forget the next Summer Grand Prix at the Rising Sun is on Tuesday (26th July). And it’s still all to play for!
