Andrew Clark crowned Doug Bramley champion 2015

On a windy and chilly night, Andy takes home the (massive) trophy which will be presented to him on Saturday night at the Christmas party. Congratulations!

Close behind in 2nd was Anna French who’s consistently improving every race and making a serious challenge for the Winter Grand Prix title. Anna also takes the fastest female with a time of 21:59. It was another podium finish for Emily James in 3rd. Fastest male on the night was Harry Coates with a 16:02. Well done guys.

The overall table is heating up with Kevin Wilson taking a healthy lead, over Alan Heslington and Dan Weatherill in 2nd and 3rd respectively. Nina Wilkinson and Olly Aird share 5th place… However this can all change as the season continues. Next race is the Winter Championship on New Year’s day, where a massive 50 points is on offer.

Good Luck everyone

Many thanks to Paddy Dinsmore for helping me with the timings.

Mud victory for green and gold ladies!

druridge bayAnother week another mudfest! This time in Druridge Bay, Northumberland. Typical x-country conditions did not put a dampener on spirits though with our ladies deservedly rewarded for their gritty performance by being crowed first ladies team!

Sarah Robson (27.09) and Becki Newman (28.36) were our first and second females with determined runs by the rest of the team – Gillian Weatherall, Elaine Liu, Anna French, Leanne Smith, Julie Williams, Jeanette Gibson and Marion Dreano-Thwaite.

In the men’s race Harry Coates (37.14) and James Davis (39.36) were our top two green and golds. And there were gutsy performances from our juniors:

Erin Prior 22.29 (Under 17 and Under 20 girls)

Denver Stretesky 20.31 (U17)

Ollie Aird 11.47 and Mason Stretesky 13.21 (U15 boys)

Cameron Motion 15.15 (U15 boys)

Let’s have a fantastic turn out at the North East X-Country Championships on December 12 at Sedgefield.

The next in the North East Harrier League series is in the New Year on January 9 at Newcastle Town Moor.

Mud glorious mud – at Ackley Heads!

anna french (2)Ackley Heads had a reputation for being a tough gig and it certainly didn’t disappoint!

Some strong performances from all categories, especially the team captains who were both the number one scorers for the green and golds.

Extremely muddy conditions lead to falling runners, tears, lost spikes but a tremendously positive sense of achievement and wellbeing. Bring on next week at Druridge Bay!
