There was a canny Wallsend contingent assembled at the Bigg Market on another warm ninth of June.
BLAYDON RACES INFO
Just a reminder that there is no club tomorrow (Thurs 9th June) due to Blaydon Races.
After the race it is tradition to meet in the pub afterwards. This year we’re going to the Old George, just a stone’s throw away from where we get off the coaches.
Good luck everyone running tomorrow. Hope to see plenty of supporters on the course too.
Pier to Pier – race report
I arrived at the Pier car park in South Shields to be greeted by four fellow Wallsend Harriers Tony, Jeanette, Mick and Lyndsey. So this was the green and gold contingent for the Sunderland Strollers’ Pier to Pier race. Small but select. The sun was shining. This was going to be hot.

Mark Summers completed his fifth (hilly) half marathon in Tynedale (the latest of 12 he hopes to complete this year) in an impressive 1:48:42. Well done Mark!
Our Green and Gold jewel Julie Collinson celebrated her 50th (I know, I didn’t believe it either) birthday by completing Ironman 70.3 Barcelona.
SUMMER GRAND PRIX NEW MEETING PLACE (May 24th)
The second Summer Grand Prix of the season takes place on Tuesday (24th May) when we will be trying out a new 5k course at the Rising Sun Country Park. Meet in ASDA CAR PARK AT 6.15pm.
We need as many people as possible running so please get there if you can and if you have a barcode please bring it.
