Virtual Terry O’Gara 5k and Junior Fun Run đź’šđź’›

As you know, this year’s TOG race has unfortunately been cancelled. However, we would still like to mark the occasion and keep the club connected by holding a virtual 5k race for seniors and a 1 mile fun run for juniors.
You will need to run between 9am and 4pm on Sunday 26 April 2020, the date of the original race.

Join Wallsend Harriers on Strava if you haven’t already done so and upload your run. If you’re not on Strava, email Elaine a screenshot of your Garmin with your time.

If you’re taking part in the junior fun run, then please also email Elaine your time.

We will aim to publish the results by approximately 6pm that evening.

Remember to wear your club vest/centenary club vest! Please try to take a photo in your club vest and/or make a short video of you running. Then email them and we’ll put them together to make a little montage.

Please remember social distancing rules – run by yourself or just with members of your household. Please don’t arrange to meet up with other club members.

  • Hi Peter,
Great to hear from you, we heard about your little accident, your Diane is keeping us updated. Are you ok? It looks awful. Defo dig out a picture or you know SOG and Donna will and it will be way more embarrassing!!! Our Dad thought the world of you and so do we.
    Take care,
    The Cottiss Crew ???????

  • Hi Kerry, Paul, Brodie and Ben, My sister Diane sent me the details for Terry’s virtual run, and I would love to have participated, but as I’m stuck in the dark ages, I can’t really upload to strava with a Casio watch! ? Hope you get plenty of people to still compete during these strange times. I might dig out my old Wallsend vest and send in a picture of me jogging slowly around as I recover from my latest injury! Hope you are all well, I loved Terry to bits such a lovely, honest and genuinely nice man, who loved you all so much. Say safe x

    • Hi Peter

A reply on behalf of the Cottises and the club:

Sorry to hear about the injuries, but it would be fantastic if you were able to take part in Terry’s virtual run and if you can get a photo of yourself to us, it would definitely be welcome!

      Kind regards

      Bill Todd

  • Hi everyone,
This has totally touched us as a family that you’ve still found a way to mark our dad and grandad. He was always about keeping people connected and we really need to do that at the moment. Thank you all so very much. Terry’s motto is now everyone’s motto “People Need People”. Kerry Paul, Bridie and Ben ????????????????

    • Thanks for your kind comments Kerry. In these strange and difficult times, we are all having to find new ways of carrying on with things as normal as possible, so like others, Wallsend Harriers are making positive use of technology to keep in touch with like minded people.

Your mum and dad would never have believed it possible eh?

Best wishes to you and the family from all your friends at the club!

      Bill Todd

      • Ha ha, you’re right Bill. Our Dad-Grandad would have said, ” Sod that” or asked Bridie or Ben to log on and sort it!! So impressed you’re all so high tech and modern.
Thanks again, you are all held very closely in our hearts and we’ll never ever the support you gave to our dad -grandad in 2012. Love you all! ????????
