Silver hair retains the silverware! ?

The final Grand Prix race of 2019 was signed off in fine style tonight with our Doug Bramley Trophy up for grabs.

There was no clear favourite after the handicaps had been vetted numerous times (not doing the handicappers already poor reputation any favours).

It was going to take a breakout performance to win and my oh my did we get it….

? 28:33 – Dave Collinson
? 28:50 – Joseph Duthie-Brown
? 29:04 – Joe Collins

Dave ran his fastest 5k (21:53 actual) in years to not only retain the coveted prize but to keep the Collinson living room decorated for another 12 months – I’m sure Julie will be thrilled!

Sarah Robson continued her rich vein of form and was our quickest lady of the night in 19:45.

Sam Charlton was our fastest time overall with a rapid 15:01.

However the performance of the night came from 9 year old Joseph Duthie-Brown, second on the podium in his first 5k event in a truly stunning 22:10.
I’m just going to repeat, 9. Years. Old. Sam’s junior records might not last forever after all…

Anyway, the remaining times and results from the race are available here.

The next Grand Prix event will be our New Years Day race, returning to its traditional 5 mile route.

Last but by no means least, a MASSIVE thank you to all our volunteers who paced, directed, cheered and officiated – you are the reason this club is so special! ??
