Little legs strike back! 🤏
Our first WGP of 2022 got off to a flying start in near perfect running conditions.
If this is a sign of things to come for the year ahead, then the Green and Gold will be a force to be reckoned with!

First of all, just how good was that?!?
After a Covid enforced 2 year hiatus, our Summer Grand Prix came back with a bang, and a bloody brilliant bang at that!
It seemed like a small army of Green and Gold had descended on the Rising Sun, whether that was to to run, compete or cheer each other on…
Sometimes you forget how special this club is! 💚💛
Please find attached the provisional results for the 2nd Virtual Gordon Smith Relays
We’d like to thank you all for participating and we’ll look to finalise the results by 6pm tomorrow night.
Please let us know of any amendments via the comments section below, or by emailing us via wallsendharriers@gmail.com.
We hope that each runner will make a donation, no matter how small, to the wonderful St Oswald’s Hospice.

Thanks to everyone who took part in our first (and hopefully last!) virtual Gordon Smith Relays, which saw over 400 competitors running in more than 130 teams!
It was great to see so many clubs taking part and we hope you enjoyed putting your club vests on and running as a team (even if it wasn’t in the conventional manner). We’ve certainly found these sorts of challenges a source of motivation and a much craved way to connect during these tough times.
Most importantly we thank everyone (from the bottom of our hearts) for their generous donations to a charity very close to our heart – St Oswald’s Hospice. At time of writing the total has exceeded all our expectations and stands at a whopping £1,200. There’s still time to donate if you ran and would like to do your bit to help provide palliative care to adults, young people and children in the North East of England. Any donation, big or small, would be much appreciated. The link is here.
It was a hot old week but there was some cracking times. Well done everyone! Headlines are:
And so it was Lambton where we had our final x-country outing of what became a season like no other. X-country has a reputation for tenacity and determination, battling and braving the elements, always on at all costs. But 2019/20 threw more at us than we bargained for. First the storms and floods and then the coronavirus. Mother Nature fighting back perhaps?
I think most of us knew this would be our last chance to run as a club for a while but I was still naïve as to the enormity of what would unfold. Not only the last of the x-countries but the start of race after race being postponed, cancelled or rescheduled, including our own Terry O’Gara Memorial 5k.
So this was our last chance to show everyone what Wallsend is made of. The turn out of Green and Golds was phenomenal (29 in total) and so was the camaraderie and gusto. As expected, the overall numbers were down, providing the perfect opportunity to score some vital points.
