Hip hip hooray for crazy May (so far…)!

There’s been so much going on over the past couple of weeks it seemed remiss not to mention some of the many green and gold achievements:

In the juniors Luke Pichler won one gold (hurdles), three silvers (high jump, long jump, shot put and got four personal bests (including club records) in Middlesbrough at the NECAA Track & Field Champs. Jack Mallam won two golds at Monkton Cadets.

From the seniors Andy Graham put in a gutsy performance in the NE Champs in the 1500m, with Jordan Middlemist claiming a fantastic bronze in the same race. Paul Corrigan won bronze in the shot put.

Danielle Hodgkinson got another 5k pb racing in the English Championships in Ipswich!

Our Alex Hemsley came second in the Aquathlon World Championships in Spain!!! Incredible. What a star!

Julie W, Julie C, Sam Crooks and Mark Taylor took part in Durham 10 mile Trail Outlaws race.

We had four men’s and one ladies’ vets teams representing the club at the NEMAA Relays at Bedeswell (results here). And we had a whopping 24 green and golds at North Shields Poly’s Clive Cookson 10k. It was Alex’s first 10k and she went sub 40 and came fifth! and Lee Pattinson continues to get stronger with a pb of 41.40. Let us know if you got one too! Results here.

Keep it coming everyone!

Next up we have the first of the Track and Field meets in Leeds this weekend. It’s a big season this year and we need as many bodies out running, jumping and throwing as possible in order to stay up. Everyone who makes up the team counts and gets valuable points simply for competing so please come and play your part, even if it’s just at one fixture.

If you can’t make Leeds please put the other dates in your diary (they are closer to home too): Sun 16th June – Middlesbrough, Sun 14th July – Morpeth and Sat 10th August – Whitley Bay (we are hosting this fixture so will need of help).

You must have paid your subs to compete and please let Paddy know. Thank you!
