Sensational September Part II!

And there I was thinking we’d got September covered in my last post, but that wasn’t even the half of it!

Barely just a week later and there is another string of accolades to bestow…

It’s hard to comprehend that anyone would put themselves through the ultimate of physical challenges – an Ironman. But less than 48 hours after two of our very own Harriers were crowned with this supreme title (Julie Collinson and Andrew Clark), gutsy (that’s polite for ‘nuts’) newlyweds Gary and Leanne took on Mallorca’s mammoth mission . The pair have worked tirelessly since their wedding in the spring and thoroughly deserved their fantastic times of 13hrs 47 mins 04 secs (Leanne) and 13 hrs 54 mins and 11 secs (Gary). Now crack the beers open and eat some pies you crazy pair!

Recently departed but absolutely never forgotten golden couple Harry and Becki had two belting performances ‘down south’. Becki was sixth in the Brownlee Triathlon (second in her age group) and our very own Mountain Goat conquered Holcombe Mountain Trial Duathlon in first place, smashing the course record by four minutes! By gum we’re proud. Is there nothing this beautiful pair can’t do?!

Also on tour were Julie Williams at Penshaw Half Marathon and David Hall taking on his second ever half marathon (and the second in a month) at Galway in a PB time of 1hr 50m 10s. With beer and chocolate fudge cake to greet the finishers at the end of a beautiful route, it’s definitely one to consider. Our French contingent Joe Colligan was flying the Green and Gold again. This time completing a very hilly 10 miler from the Eiffel Tower to Versaille in 1hr12mins.

A massive congratulations to all of you.

Again, if I have missed anyone, please let me know.

Here’s to an oggy oggy oggy October!
