The combined green, white and gold of Wallsend and Blyth came out in force at Middlesbrough and left with a very well earned 2nd place. The spirit in the camp was evident again as we had lots of people taking part, this is exactly what we need for the next two fixtures if we are going to remain in top spot.
The legendary Blaydon Races takes place on Tuesday (9th June) so there will be no club session on that night. If you’re not running then do come along and support all the Green and Golds. It’s always a cracking night and most of the runners, friends and family will be off to celebrate at the pub straight after.
Just a reminder that the next track and field event takes place in Middlesbrough on Saturday 6th June. As well as athletes we need plenty of supporters down there so bring your friends and family and a picnic for a cracking day out!
If you still want to take part then please let Paddy or Becky know as soon as possible, it’s a great way of competing together as a team along with our friends from Blyth. The times are shown below…
Would you like the opportunity to become a fully qualified coach?
As our club continues to thrive we want to make sure that we have enough qualified coaches to support our fantastic athletes. This means we are on the outlook for enthusiastic people to join our coaching team. We are after 10 people to join our team from across all our groups. If this is something you’d be keen to explore please speak to Paddy. It’s a simple process and the more coaches we have the easier it will be to continue increasing our numbers.
Sean McIntyre wins the second Summer Grand Prix holding off a host of runners at the finish line. Sean beat his handicap time by 15 seconds to record a time of 11:45. Olly Aird ran an excellent 12:02 to finish 2nd and Lynsey Smith edged into 3rd place.
Well done to David Scoins who beat his over 60s by 19 seconds, in a new time of 12:45.
Sean not only holds on to his lead at the top of the table but also extends it after another fantastic performance. Dan Smith is hot on his heels, and is certain to score more points before the end of the season.
