The committee would like to wish you all a very merry Christmas and a happy New Year!
To spike or not to spike? It was cool but dry at Aykley Heads this season. A far cry from last year’s delightful mud-fest. Some people depend on the squelch, others excel in all conditions. And our Andy Graham is certainly the latter, clinching a top five finish (38.20) in an impressive line-up of senior men and on one of the more grueling courses of the North East Harrier League x-country season.
We had a fantastic show from Wallsend Harriers 365 Junior group at the first indoor meet of the season, hosted by Gateshead Harriers.
A night with a record 44 runners turning out on the officially measured 5km course, Keith comfortably lead the field with a personal best of 20:05. Andy Clark worked his way through for second, with Paul Hetherington third for the second race running.
Sam Charlton was the fastest male with a 16:07, ahead of Simon Lyon, 17:05 and Matt Darbyshire, 17:31. Erin Prior was the fastest female in 20:50 with Eira Hegarty and Elena Walker, second and third respectively.
I lead the WGP table (IT’S A FIX) over Paul Hetherington and Josh Oates. Next WGP is the Doug Bramley cup on 5th December.
Big thanks again to Bill Todd, Mish Margison and Christine Stretesky for officiating
