Club Championships 2021

We have always said that our Club Championships are the pinnacle of the Wallsend Harriers racing calendar, this year however, it feels like it will be much more than that.

With the unparalleled events of recent times, this is the first time we can come together as a club in full, with no government restrictions, to run, support and celebrate alongside our fellow Green and Golds – since January 2020!

The date for your diary is Tuesday, July 20th and the place to be is the Centurion Golf Club.

Please bring your club vest or a green top, where possible, so that we can turn the course green!
It’s forecast to be a hot one – so don’t forget your sun cream and please remember to bring plenty of fluids to keep you hydrated too.

If you’re injured or not wanting to compete then we’d still love to have you along to cheer on your club mates and be part of the club photo.

Juniors and parents;

We ask you to arrive from 18:00.
This is so registration can be completed and our juniors can get to the start of the 1 mile course at the top of West Street.
The junior race is due to begin around 18:20.
There will be a club photo around 18:35 – 18:50, after the juniors race and prior to the senior race.

Seniors;

We also ask you to arrive from 18:00.
This is to allow registration to be completed and to support our junior members as they complete their 1 mile race.
There will be a club photo around 18:35 – 18:50, after the juniors race and prior to the senior race.
We expect the senior race to start around 19:00.

Our senior course starts and finishes at the top of Rheydt Avenue and takes runners down to Rutland Road, onto Appletree Gardens, up Benton Road, along the Coast Road, down West Street, returning back to Rutland Road for the first lap.
The race consists of one lap for our ladies and two laps for our men.

Below we have Alex Helmsley, our reigning, 2 time, holder of the Margaret Watson trophy, with Andy Graham, our double male champion.
