Green and golds beat the January blues

Another week another string of sterling performances. This time in the face of freezing conditions…

brass monkeyAnd it really was ‘brass monkeys’ for Gav Lee, Sean McIntyre, Alastair Wills, Keith O’Donnell, Mark Summers and Mark Richardson who all took part in a -2 degrees Brass Monkey half marathon in York. And aced it!

durham4Meanwhile, in an icy Durham the Green and Golds turned out in force for the annual Relays competition. Taking in the scenic and historic Cathedral grounds, it is a cross country running event for teams of 3 runners, each runner completing two laps of a fast, mainly flat grass course. Each leg is 3km approx.

Thanks to all who turned out on a very frosty Sunday. Great running by all. The teams were as follows:

First men’s team (13th place) 31:28 : Nick Zissler, Dan Weatherill, Simon Lyon

Second men’s team: Paddy Dinsmore, Paul Stretetsky, Andy Wigmore

First women’s team (28th out of 87) 40:09: Elaine Liu, Sarah Graham, Becki Newman

Second women’s team 43:43: Danielle Watts, Jitka Richards, Julie Williams

Vets men 42:00: Alan Heslington, David Scoins, Tony Maddox
