Harrier Heroes

Well we couldn’t let lockdown pass without mentioning two of our green and gold heroes!

Not even confinement could deter this awesome duo from doing their thing.

Marie Curie nurse Catherine Graham ran a full marathon in her garden at the end of April, her first full marathon, raising over £3,000 for Marie Curie.

Meanwhile our duathlon champion Alex Hemsley, not content with completing a triathlon at home (that was just the warm up), only went and did a half Ironman! So that’s a 40 minute swim (unfortunately she doesn’t have a pool in her back garden so she did it over a footstool with bands!), a 57 mile bike ride on a static bike in her back garden and a half marathon on her driveway!

Alex is still in full on lockdown due to her severe asthma, but it’s no surprise that this gutsy lady turned a difficult situation into a positive. So far she has raised over £900 for ITU at Hallamshire in Sheffield, who looked after her best friend Kathryn who died from cancer.

Awe inspiring stuff I’m sure you’ll agree and we are so proud of these amazing women, powering through in the face of adversity.
