Don’t be jealous, it’s a dream debut for Ellis! ?

Our first Winter Grand Prix of the year had plenty of new faces, but the same old, unpredictable weather!

Despite the heady winds a remarkable turnout of 29 runners and 11 volunteers rocked up to Cobalt.

The handicaps were bemoaned (as always) and a ‘wind allowance’ was often requested but swiftly denied by the miserly time predictor – clearly there was no New Year resolution of him being any kinder this year.

The race itself was closely contested, but there could be only one victor;

? 29:54 – Scott Ellis
? 30:01 – Alex Hemsley
? 30:07 – Iain Hall

A dream debut for Scott as not only was he was the first home, but he ran the fastest actual time of 17:54 on the evening, was the only person to beat his predicted time and all this from starting last as well. A truly stunning WGP debut, I’m sure you’ll agree!

Alex is slowly getting back in her stride and was just outside her predicted time along with being our fastest lady with an actual time of 20:21

Iain also had a fantastic debut with a very strong third place finish and was third overall in actual times too.

Kam Mohammad was our first junior home overall in 6th place overall. Our quickest junior was the returning Osian Hegarty in 20:29.

On average it looks as though the conditions added 75 seconds to the predicted times, you can find the full race results here.

As always our appreciation goes out to those who give up their time and own running to officiate, chaperone, pace, marshal and cheer you on – whatever the weather.
