Green and Gold juniors go all out at final NOTAN of the summer

The sun was out once again for the final NOTAN Summer Grand Prix, where we had the biggest turnout yet for the green and golds.

Well done to Rosa, Amara, Jessica, Scarlett, Sonny, Oscar, Anthony, Reuben, Hugh, Daniel, Luke, Shay and Isla for showing everyone what Wallsend Harriers are made of.

We saw PBs across the field with newcomer Amara winning the 50m sprint in 8.9 seconds, which isn’t far away from the NOTAN year 3 record! Fellow year 2 and 3 athletes Scarlett, Jessica, Oscar, Rosa, Shay and Isla also had a successful day in their four events, with Oscar achieving a PB in the standing long jump, closely followed by Shay with a huge 1.85m effort.

NOTAN regular Daniel Scott propped up the year 4 category with his best performance of the series, recording a PB of 3.25m in the long jump and finishing 3rd in the overall season standings.

Our year 5 boys Sonny and Luke were strong with Sonny competing in his first NOTAN event and throwing an impressive 19.38m in the howler. Luke followed him with a distance of 43.60m – the furthest ever throw in the competition’s history, helping him claim first place overall.

There’s more! Reuben, Hugh and Anthony had an excellent day in the year 6 competition. Hugh recorded a PB of 3.29m in the long jump, and Reuben jumped over 4m, which saw him take second place overall in his age category.

Thanks to our older helpers Jadzia, Martha and Millie for their work over the series. You’ve been a great help.

The next generation, right here!
