Apologies for the short notice but the Club Championships will NOT be taking place on Friday 16th June as previously scheduled. This is such an important event for the Club so we are looking to find a better date for everyone to ensure maximum turn out. Watch this space for further details.
As the Blaydon Race is taking place on Friday (9th June) there will be no club session on Thursday. The senior and junior track sessions on Friday are also cancelled.
For those ‘gannin’ along the Scotswood Road’ we will be meeting at the bottom of the Bigg Market near the church (same as last year), at 6.30pm for the traditional club photo.
The post-race debrief will again be at the Old George.

The idea
I’ve wanted to do a marathon for about 20 years now and just never set aside the time to train for one. In December I was telling my future brother in law, Malcolm, about the disappointment of not getting into London again. He suggested trying Liverpool as he was going to do it in May. After a few drinks the seed had been planted and the idea seemed better and better the more we drank.
Training
Training was hard, really hard and I underestimated the amount of it I would have to do. Over five months I ran nearly 600 miles. Read more
A Junior 1,2,3,4 lead by Daniel Broderick taking maximum points at the second Summer Grand Prix, pipping Joshua Oates by one second! Kameron Mohamed finished 3rd with Katherine Sayer 4th. Fastest male was Andy Graham in a time of 10:56 with Erin Prior back from injury to take fastest female in a time of 13:10.
David Diston holds on to his lead at the top of the table, with Kevin Hood and James Torbett moving up to 2nd and 3rd respectively. Thank you to Bill Todd and Paddy Dinsmore for helping to officiate. Next SGP for your diary is 18th July.
