So far September has been pretty epic on the race front.
The ever gruelling but addictive Great North Run took no prisoners on another scorching day. PBs were out the window for most but it didn’t stop us from soaking up the incredible atmosphere and enjoying the last home straight along the glorious South Shields coastline.
Wallsend Harriers Committee would like to make the following announcement:
At the Club tonight, Kevin Payne reminded members of his wish to step down as Chairman as soon as a successor could be appointed.
He was pleased to inform members present that the committee had appointed Bill Todd to the role of Chairman of the Club with immediate effect.
It was further announced that club secretary Jackie Garnett has also stepped down with immediate effect. The role will be filled by committed and experienced member Elaine Ashton (nee Liu), who has served on the committee for a number of years.
The Club would like to thank Kevin and Jackie for the enormous amount of work, time and dedication they have given to Wallsend Harriers in the last two and half years.
Bill said “I am delighted to take up the challenge of continuing Kevin’s work and moving the Club forward in the next stage of its growth.”
