Run for “Jo Jo”!

josephShow your support for the Go “Jo Jo” Charity and run the Newcastle Business Park Fun Run on Thursday 10th September. The race is 2.2 miles and starts at 6.15pm

Joseph’s brother and sister run with Wallsend Juniors. He is 8 years-old and his family are seeking help to raise funds for disability equipment for his specific needs. He has a “wish list” of equipment that would help him, … “live his life to the fullest”.

The race entry fee is just £5 for adults and only £1 for under 18s. This year the run will raise money for the Go “Jo Jo” charity and The Sick Children’s Trust.

Visit the website below for more information and to enter. It would be great to see lots of green and golds there to support Joseph and his family.

Track and Field Victory at 40th Anniversary weekend!

track2They think it’s all over…it is now!

Well our combined Wallsend/Blyth team have only just gone and won the final event by a huge margin and we have been promoted to division 2E.

We are hugely proud of our full team. It took guts, determination and a huge amount of effort to get us over the line but we should all be immensely proud to be the CHAMPIONS!

Thank you to everyone who has competed, officiated and supported in all the 4 fixtures but a huge call out to Captain Harry Coates and Becki Jaye for the huge effort they put in across the series and Gez Davidson for his cracking burgers!

Well done everybody from Wallsend and Blyth!

Paddy Dinsmore

Club Championships coming soon!

startingline2It’s that time of year again people. The Club Championships takes place on Friday August 14th. And we want to see as many green and golds there as possible (don’t forget it counts towards the Summer Grand Prix series).

The route consists of one (approx. 3 mile) lap for the women and two laps (approx. 6 miles) for the men. There is also a one mile race for Juniors. The senior course starts and finishes at the top of Rheydt Avenue (the car park of the Centurion Golf Club in Wallsend) and takes runners along Appletree Gardens, up Benton Road, along the Coast Road and back down West Street for the first (and only lap for the women!) lap. The Juniors’ race starts at the top of West Street at 6.15pm.
The seniors’ race starts at 6.45pm with all runners starting at the same time.

There will still be a session at the club on Thursday night for anyone interested.

For more info click here.

This year it will take place on August 14th. The race is always followed by a good old-fashioned Wallsend Harriers night out!

Join us for our 40th Anniversary celebrations!

startingline2This weekend marks a momentous occasion for Wallsend Harriers – it is 40 years since the club was re-established in 1975.

It coincides nicely with our hosting of the next Track & Field meeting at Churchill Playing Fields, Whitley Bay, on Saturday (8th August) and we would love to see as many Green and Golds there as possible. Whether you are competing or supporting it would be great if you could join us. After the competition we will be having a barbecue so please come along and celebrate with us. If you’d like to attend the bbq please let Becki know so we have an idea of numbers for food.

TRACK & FIELD

We would appreciate any support you can give us at the track on Saturday. If you are unable to compete then we still need plenty of hands on deck for manning events, looking after results, PA announcing , marshals etc. Please let Becki or Paddy know and please arrive at about 10am, before the first event at 11am.

GREEN AND GOLD PARK RUN

To also mark the anniversary Whitley Bay Park Run is kindly going Green and Gold on Saturday (8th August)! So get your vest on and come and join us for a cracking 5k down on the sea front by the Spanish City. If you don’t fancy running then we need plenty of marshals on the morning (please arrive no later than 8.30am). It’s only for an hour and then you can head straight to the track to continue the celebrations! Please let Michael Day know if you can help.
