Top Tim Nics the win! And speedy Sarah Robson, steals the glory!

club champsTim Nicholson takes home the Men’s Club Championships trophy for the first time posting a brilliant run of 35:11 around the 6-mile course. Tim held off strong challenges from Jack Armstrong, and the ever-improving Andy Wigmore. Sarah also takes home the club honours for the first time posting an excellent time of 21:13 around the 3.35 mile ladies route. Matty Summers posted the only time for the u16 with a 22:54.

BLYTH LINKS 10K – TUES AUGUST 23

All members of Wallsend Harriers are invited to the annual Blyth Links 10k training run and social evening on August 23rd.

It’s a lovely course and an accurate 10k from the Links Car Park, South Beach, Blyth to Seaton Sluice cliff tops and return. A perfect training run ahead of the Great North Run.

There’s no entry fee. Just turn up, collect a number and run.

Registration is at the Dave Stephen’s Building adjoining the Links car park, South Beach, NE24 3PL. This year there will be a voluntary charity collection.

There are no prizes but there is a free race buffet and raffle at The Quay pub in Blyth centre.

Club Championships on Friday (August 12th)!!!

startingline2Right everyone it’s the Club Championships on Friday (August 12th), a highlight of the year, so let’s have a turn out to be proud of!

There’s still all to play for in the Grand Prix prizes stakes. It’s a great, fast course – 1 mile for juniors, 3 miles (1 lap) for the ladies and 6 miles (2 laps) for the men.

Meet at the car park of the Centurion Golf Park in Wallsend. More details here. And don’t forget to wear your green and gold vest!

Speedy Olly wins the 4th Summer Grand Prix.

Despite a strong finish from Adam Hamilton and Robbie Livermore, Olly Aird took home the gold medal with a fantastic run around the 2 mile course, with a PB of 11:05. He also finished 3rd with the fastest time of the night behind a stunning run from Jack Armstrong in 10:43 and the fastest time this year Simon Lyon 10:24. Emily James takes the fastest female crown with a 13:38.

Joseph Hoben hangs on to the top of table, with Andy Wigmore 2nd and Simon Lyon 3rd. There is still 165 points available to score for the year, so its still all to play for.
