Green and Gold stars of 2016

20161210_200128What a fitting almost end to the year as Wallsend Harriers of all ages and abilities scooped some serious bling at the 2016 Prize-Giving Ceremony held at Killingworth Social Club on Saturday (10th Dec). After a tough day on the x-country field our gutsy green and golds were full of smiles and excitement as they collected trophies or watched with pride as fellow Harriers were recognised for their magnificent efforts throughout the year. Each and everyone of you (whether you went home with a trophy or not) should be proud of what you have contributed to this fantastic club over the year. Now let’s make 2017 the best yet! See all the winners below.  All photos from the night are on the gallery page.  Read more

Now that’s what I call…x-country 2016!

20161210_141648I loved it! It was really muddy. It was really hilly and a bit chilly, but there was a great atmosphere. If you haven’t done a x-country with the club yet you really must. Darryl digs deep to win Doug Bramley Cup!

The famous Doug Bramley Cup saw the Wallsend Harriers out in force to tackle the new 5k course for the first time. Conditions were far from perfect registering a chilly 2C on the night, however, this did not put off the hardy core of dedicated athletes.

First across the line was our guest runner Tim Flannery closely followed by Darryl Roe who smashed his predicted time by over 2 mins and in third place was the ever improving Keith O’Donnell. We had some fantastic individual battles on the night and the new course looks set to be a big success. Fastest male athletes on the night were Simon Lyon, Sam Charlton and Olly Aird. Fastest females on the night were Sarah Robson, Kayleigh Dunn and Nina Wilkinson.

Full results here. Massive congratulations to everyone involved and thanks to everyone who helped out on the night.

Many thanks,

Paddy
